Arpeggio practice app 1.5.0, Edgars 0.7.0, Homechord 1.1.1

Three releases left the workshop in the same week: Arpeggios 1.5.0, Edgars 0.7.0 and Homechord 1.1.1. The headliner is a countdown on the arpeggio practice app's Next button — while auto-advance runs, the pill says how long you have left. Here is what shipped.

What's new

  • The Next button counts down (Arpeggios 1.5.0). While auto-advance runs, the pill shows the remaining time as m:ss after a hairline, and a 2 px arc depletes around its own edge. Pause, and it holds an em dash instead of freezing at a number. The count is achromatic on purpose — same ink as the label, no second accent on the screen — and it steps once a second, so you read your pace at thumb distance without the card animating under you.
  • A fretboard drawn for reading (Arpeggios 1.5.0). String gauges are drawn at their relative weight, so the low E sits heavier than the high E. The string lane is open at fret 0 instead of starting at the first dot, and every dot gets a wider touch floor. Same board on the phone and on the web.
  • The Sheet follows your language (Arpeggios 1.5.0). Its close controls are translated now, and the metronome switch takes a 44 pt target instead of a sliver.
  • Practice priority, per Gig (Edgars 0.7.0). A switch on each Gig. Turn it on and that Gig's Songs come first on the Dashboard; leave it off and the usual order stands. It is a choice you make per set, not a mode you set once and forget.
  • A Gig that knows how long it runs (Edgars 0.7.0). The Gig estimates the set's length from the average length of your recorded takes. Takes recorded before this update are counted too: the durations are backfilled out of the recordings already on your phone, so the estimate works on the library you have rather than the one you start after updating.
  • Shared links that keep their shape (Homechord 1.1.1). A link opens with its sections and its arrangement exactly as you saved it. Repeats and decoded names are bounded at decode time, so a very long or doubled-up link no longer takes the app down when you open it.
  • The screen stays awake everywhere (Homechord 1.1.1). The stay-awake lock moved from Settings into the app shell. Leaving Settings used to drop it; now it holds wherever you are in the app.

The dependency upgrades that came with all three are internal, and none of them changes what you do with the apps.

Where to get it

Arpeggios 1.5.0 is on Google Play, and it runs in your browser at arpeggio.webeleon.dev — the countdown is in both. Edgars 0.7.0 is on Google Play. Homechord 1.1.1 is on Google Play and runs at homechord.webeleon.dev.

If you are drilling arpeggios against that countdown, the theory underneath is worth ten minutes: an arpeggio is a chord taken apart. And if deciding what to play is the part that stalls your session, the case for answering it in three seconds is the argument behind Edgars' practice priority.
